Undersheriff David Wagner was born and raised in the Vicksburg area and
after graduating High School, attended Ferris State
University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and
completed the Police Academy in 2002.
David joined the Kalkaska Sheriff Office on October 21, 2002 and has served as a Road Patrol Deputy, Corrections Officer, Narcotics Detective, member of the Northern Michigan Mutual Aid Task Force Emergency Response Team, and Road Patrol Sergeant. Most recently David was assigned as the Central Dispatch Sergeant where he oversaw the transition from the old high band radio system to the statewide 800MHZ radio system.
David was appointed Undersheriff by Sheriff Pat Whiteford on May 21, 2018 after the retirement of Undersheriff Harry Shipp.
Undersheriff Wagner is a youth soccer coach, an avid hunter, and Hunter Safety Instructor.
He and his wife Shannon have one child.
