Civil Process
CIVIL PROCESS/WARRANTS:
The Office of the Sheriff, by statue must maintain a civil division. The division is responsible for service of:
A deputy is assigned as the Civil Process Officer, who is responsible for serving and coordinating Civil Process Service, posting properties for the courts, serving arrest warrants; as well as, assists with the transportation of prisoners. Other duties include seizures of property, and conducting sheriff's sales
Hours of Operation:
The Civil Process Division office is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8am to 4pm , Wednesday 8am to 6pm and Friday 8am to 2 pm. Please arrive no later than a half-hour before we close to allow us sufficient time to assist you. Hours will be extended under special circumstances. The office is closed on most legal holidays.

Fees for process service are set by statue based on the type of paper that is served. Please contact the Civil Process Division at (231) 258-3355 extension 1410 to inquire about approximate cost for service, which includes a mileage fee.
This division is also responsible for the foreclosure sales. These sales are open to the public and are held every third Thursday of the month at 11:00 AM in the lobby of the Kalkaska County Courthouse.
