Sheriff Patrick Whiteford

Sheriff Patrick Whiteford was born and raised in the East Jordan area.  After graduating from East Jordan High School in 1994, Pat attended Ferris State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and completed the Police Academy in 1999.

Pat joined the Kalkaska Sheriff Office on October 18, 1999 and has served as a Road Patrol Deputy, School Liaison Officer, Narcotics Officer, Detective, member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Road Patrol Sergeant, Central Dispatch Sergeant and Undersheriff 

Pat obtained his Master's Degree in Informational Assurance in 2010 from Eastern Michigan University. 

After the unexpected passing of Sheriff Abe DeVol on November 28, 2015  Pat was appointed Sheriff on December 29, 2015 to fill out the term of Ret. Sheriff David Israel.

Sheriff Whiteford was elected in the 2016 election to serve a full term as Kalkaska County Sheriff beginning January 1, 2017.

Sheriff Whiteford was reelected in the 2020 election to serve a second full term as Kalkaska County Sheriff beginning January 1, 2021

Sheriff Whiteford is a member of the Kalkaska Rotary Club, Kalkaska Sports Boosters,  Hockey Coach, and 4-H Leader.

He is married to his wife Malena and has 3 children.
